WILLEMSTAD – The opposition party MAN is demanding clarification from Finance Minister Javier Silvania regarding non-budgeted subsidies allocated for 2024 and 2025. In a letter addressed to the minister, MAN’s faction leader Giselle Mc William raised concerns about the distribution and justification of these financial contributions.
Mc William emphasized the parliament’s budgetary oversight responsibilities and called for a detailed list of all entities that have received subsidies, including the amounts granted to each organization. Additionally, the opposition is requesting transparency on the criteria used for granting subsidies and how the effectiveness and efficiency of the allocated funds are being assessed.
MAN is also seeking confirmation on whether advisory opinions were obtained before granting the subsidies and has requested copies of any relevant recommendations. Furthermore, the party is demanding a comprehensive overview of the total expenditures and wants to know when the government plans to implement potential budgetary adjustments.
As of now, Minister Silvania has not publicly responded to MAN’s inquiries.
