WILLEMSTAD – Quincy Girigorie, the parliamentary leader of the PAR party, has strongly criticized Finance Minister Javier Silvania (MFK) for his conduct during a parliamentary session discussing the Gambling Ordinance (LOK).
According to Girigorie, Silvania ignored substantive questions and instead launched public attacks on the opposition, rather than addressing concerns and critiques of the proposed legislation in a professional manner.
Girigorie described Silvania's actions as "unworthy of a minister" and accused him of failing in his responsibility to serve as a role model in his ministerial capacity. "A minister should maintain professionalism, even in challenging situations," stated Girigorie.
The session has sparked further debate about the government's handling of the controversial ordinance and its implications for Curaçao's gambling industry.
