Opening of Richmond Gabriel University

WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (ESKD) Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn, and the Minister of Public Health, Environment, and Nature (SMN) Mr. Javier Silvania, inaugurated the Richmond Gabriel University (RGU) together with its directors. The university is located at Jan Noorduynweg 55-3 and focuses on health, with a priority on education, science, and research.

During the afternoon, Dr. Mane Paulpillai (President of the RGU Board of Directors), Dr. Sameer Suhail (Chancellor of the Board of Directors), Dr. Sam Suhail (Clinical Dean of the Board of Directors), and Mr. Joseph Hylak Reinholyz (Legal Advisor) all spoke and expressed their immense satisfaction with the opening and the cooperation with the Government. Ministers Van Heydoorn and Silvania also gave speeches, indicating that Curaçao, as a country, will continue to work with professional institutions in education and health at a high level and standard. This achievement marks another historic moment because the establishment of this organization in our country brings various benefits. One of these benefits is that it will attract more international students to study here, consequently enhancing the economic-tourism sector. Moreover, the impact of a university in the medical field is multifaceted, as it is crucial for the health sector in our country. We can train nurses and doctors at an international university within our own country. Additionally, this can channel the development of our local infrastructure, where we will have health educators coming here and enhancing the diversity with new experiences and perspectives.

Reflecting on this event and opening, it creates new perspectives for our country, and the Minister of ESKD is extremely pleased with this development. This way, we continue to create opportunities for our country in the field of education with a view towards our future generations.
