On the Occasion of EU Anti-Trafficking Day

WILLEMSTAD - On Saturday, October 18, Curaçao will join the European Union in commemorating EU Anti-Trafficking Day, a day dedicated to awareness, remembrance, and action against human trafficking.

To mark the occasion, the façade of Curaçao International Airport will be illuminated in blue on October 17 and 18, in collaboration with Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP). This symbolic gesture highlights the island’s national commitment to the fight against human trafficking and serves as a call to awareness for both residents and visitors.

The partnership with CAP began in 2024. Since then, PATH footsteps have been visible in the airport’s arrival hall, and informational posters have been placed in all restrooms to raise awareness about human trafficking.

PATH, a department within the Ministry of Justice, coordinates all matters related to human trafficking and human smuggling. The division focuses on raising awareness, implementing legislative and policy changes, and conducting on-site inspections when necessary. Through collaboration with local and international partners, PATH works toward a society in which every individual is protected from exploitation and abuse.

The Ministry of Justice and PATH expressed their sincere gratitude to Curaçao Airport Partners for their continued support and involvement in these important symbolic actions.

With the illumination of one of Curaçao’s most iconic landmarks, the government underscores that the fight against human trafficking is not only an international obligation but also a shared responsibility—one that requires constant vigilance, solidarity, and action.
