WILLEMSTAD - On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, Olympic sailor Odile van Aanholt paid a special visit to the Governor of Curaçao, H.E. Lucille George-Wout, where she proudly presented her gold Olympic medal. During the meeting, Odile shared her journey, highlighting how she learned to sail in the waters of Curaçao, which played a crucial role in her development as an international athlete. Van Aanholt, who has already secured multiple international awards, made history as the first Curaçao native ("Yiu di Kòrsou") to win an Olympic gold medal. The Governor warmly congratulated her on this outstanding achievement and wished her continued success in her sailing career.
Odile was accompanied by her proud parents, Cor and Marjolein van Aanholt, as well as her fiancé, Bart Lambriex. Also present was Jesse Bérénos, the chairman of CURsailing, showing support for this remarkable moment.
