Official visit of the President of the Republic of Suriname to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - At the invitation of Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, the President of the Republic of Suriname, H.E. Chandrikapersad Santokhi, will pay an official visit to Curaçao from Tuesday, October 22 to Wednesday, October 23, 2024. This historic visit marks the first time a President of the Republic of Suriname has made an official visit to Curaçao. 

The visit aims to promote and deepen regional cooperation in areas such as trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. The Government of Curaçao places great importance on this opportunity to further strengthen bilateral ties with Suriname. 

First Lady Mrs. Mellisa Santokhi-Seenacherry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business, and International Cooperation (BIBIS), H.E. Albert Ramdin, and Consul General Mrs. Christa Zuiverloon will accompany the President during selected parts of the visit. 

The official program includes visits to the Governor of Curaçao, the Council of Ministers, and Parliament. Additionally, the First Lady will focus on the issue of mental health among children and youth, a cause she has strongly supported since taking office. 

Along with formal meetings, the delegation will also engage in working visits to foster further collaboration in the areas of economic and cultural development. 

The Government of Curaçao looks forward to welcoming the President and his delegation and working together to further strengthen the friendly and bilateral relations between both countries.
