WILLEMSTAD - After years, the monument commemorating the bridge disaster will receive an official name on Monday. The memorial was established after the Queen Juliana Bridge collapsed in 1967 while it was still under construction, resulting in the tragic deaths of fifteen construction workers.
The Ministry of Public Works reported on the monument's renovation, located at the foot of the bridge. Everything is now prepared for the commemoration event, which will take place on Monday between 09:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
A different theme is highlighted every year, and this year's theme is "Seguridat total, ta evitá aksidentenan fatal," which translates to "Total safety prevents fatal accidents." There is currently no information available regarding potential options for the new name.
Several ministers and union leaders will deliver speeches during the commemorative event, and wreaths will be laid in memory of the fifteen workers.
