WILLEMSTAD - The documentary "Nostalgia, the music of Wim Statius Muller" will be screened January 9 in the Movies in Punda. The film is directed by Alaric Smeets.

To commemorate Wim, Nostalgia is shown again after five years. All proceeds go to the Alex Alberto Film Fund. The only film fund in Curaçao that helps filmmakers to develop documentaries such as Nostalgia.

Curaçao Chopin

Wim Statius Muller was a Curaçao composer and pianist, nicknamed "the Curaçao Chopin" for his romantic piano styling. Although he graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York City, his musical career only really began after he retired from a career in security and counterintelligence.

Wim died last August 31. After his death, the Film Fund received many requests to show the documentary Nostalgia again. January 26, 2020 Wim would have turned 90.

In addition to Wim's family, director Alaric Smeets will be present. The film really comes into its own on the large screen and the beautiful sound.
