Nominations Open for 2026 Royal Honors in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – Residents of Curaçao have until July 31, 2025, to nominate someone for a Royal Decoration to be awarded in 2026. The Royal Honors Committee Curaçao is calling on the public to put forward individuals who have made long-standing, selfless contributions to the community.

The Royal Honor is intended for people who have volunteered extensively, often for 15 years or more, without compensation and far beyond what is expected of them. This includes contributions in neighborhood projects, foundations, sports, youth work, music, and elderly care. Individuals who have achieved extraordinary accomplishments through their profession may also be considered.

How to Nominate

Anyone can submit a nomination by sending an email to kondekorashonreal@gobiernu.cw. The email must include:

The name of the nominee

A detailed explanation of their community service or achievements

The relationship between the nominator and the nominee

Once received, the committee will follow up to request further information.

Support Letters and Confidentiality

A complete nomination must include two letters of support from others who know the nominee and can vouch for their dedication.

All nominations must be well-documented, with a clear description of the volunteer work, how long it has been carried out, and what makes the nominee’s contribution exceptional. The process is strictly confidential and coordinated with the Curaçao government, the Governor, the Chancellery of the Dutch Orders, and ultimately, King Willem-Alexander.

Importantly, the nomination must remain a surprise to the nominee, as the award is meant to be a heartfelt and unexpected recognition.

The Royal Decorations are typically presented around King’s Day, celebrated annually on April 27.
