No U.S. Pressure on Curaçao Over Oil Tanker Incident

| By Correspondent March 23, 2026

THE HAGUE – The United States has not formally contacted either the Netherlands or Curaçao regarding the detention of oil tankers linked to Venezuelan shipments, according to Dutch authorities.

Despite the geopolitical sensitivity of the issue and the involvement of vessels reportedly listed under U.S. sanctions, officials confirmed that no direct diplomatic engagement has taken place.

The absence of U.S. intervention suggests that the situation is being treated primarily as a matter of local maritime enforcement and EU legal frameworks.

The development may ease concerns about potential diplomatic tensions, even as scrutiny over the shipments continues.
