WILLEMSTAD - The restoration of Landhuis Kortijn will no longer take place as planned. The minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW), Hensley Koeiman responds to written questions from the parliament about the 2020 budget.
“The restoration costs are very high (around 5 million guilders) and the Otrobanda neighborhood center, which wants to use the building after the restoration has insufficient funds to take care of the maintenance. We are looking for an alternative that will be cheaper in terms of costs,” says Koeiman.
The restoration in 1987 of the mansion, built in 1775, cost 1.2 million guilders.
