No lien placed on former Clarion Hotel

WILLEMSTAD - Contrary to what other media reported, the Tax Receiver, Alfonso Trona, says that the Tax Authorities have not placed a lien on the former Claron Hotel which is now owned by the Colombian On Vacation.

Also, the Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) says that On Vacation is not a member of the association.

The owners of the hotel have an outstanding debt of around 800,000 guilders to the operator of the kitchen. The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) was asked to intervene because the situation is not good for the Curaçao name in Colombia which is where most of the tourists that stay at that hotel come from.

This week it also became clear that the staff has not yet received a salary and has therefore laid down their work.

The Hotel at Parasasa has already undergone several name changes and probably also acquisitions. It started as Clarion Hotel & Suites. Then it was called Cala Hotel. Since 2018 the hotel has been operated by the Colombian Group On Vacation from the Colombian Carlos Londoño. Since December 2016, the group has established a private limited company on Curaçao, On Vacation BV, which operates under the trade name On Vacation Beach Curaçao.

The proxy holder is the Trust Office Centennial Management nv, with Cornelis ten Hoven born in the Netherlands as director.
