No general practitioner care in Curaçao between 08:00 and 12:00

Local | By Correspondent March 7, 2023

WILLEMSTAD – This morning the Curaçao GPs had a meeting during working hours. That meant that non-urgent patients could only report to their GP after 12:00. During the morning, primary care was down.

With this, the GP association CHV wanted to put pressure on the Curaçao government to organize the Evening-Night-Weekend care affordably.

There were four GP practices available for emergencies. If there was an emergency that could not wait until 12:00, the patients could have called their own GP practice and followed the instructions of the doctor's assistant. Based on the information provided, the doctor's assistant would have consulted with one of the four practices that would have provided emergency care.

Primary care is now operational again.

Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and the Minister of Finance Javier Silvania attended the meeting and spoke with the doctors.
