New Youth Mentorship Foundation “Consortium” Launches Ahead of 2025–2026 School Year in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – A new local foundation called Consortium will become operational at the start of the 2025–2026 academic year, offering a dedicated mentorship program for young people in Curaçao. The goal is to provide youth with access to opportunities and guidance that support both their personal and professional development.

True to its name, Consortium represents a collective effort—much like in the financial or academic world—where multiple stakeholders come together to invest in the future of Curaçao’s youth.

How Does Consortium Work?

Companies and organizations are invited to support the initiative by providing mentors and contributing resources, whether material or non-material. Parents and teachers are encouraged to nominate students from the second year of secondary school onward, as long as the students are officially enrolled at a local school.

Each participating student will be matched with a mentor who meets with them in person every month. These mentors serve as committed guides, taking a genuine interest in the mentee’s growth. In addition, Consortium will host four annual workshops focused on key themes: identity, mental health, personal branding, and giving back to the community.

Building on a Strong Legacy

Consortium is picking up where Fundashon Bo Motivashon Nos Kontribushon (FBMNK)—a mentorship initiative previously founded by Girobank—left off. Although both Girobank and FBMNK are no longer active, their impact lives on through this new foundation. Organizers say they personally witnessed how young people blossomed and overcame challenges through the supportive community that FBMNK once fostered.

Call to Action

The foundation is calling on local businesses, NGOs, and public institutions to join Consortium. The most vital contribution: making mentors available. Parents and educators are also urged to enroll their children or students and become part of this effort.
