WILLEMSTAD - TeraMobil has been granted a concession for telecommunications in the local market. This was confirmed by the Minister of Transport, Traffic and Spatial Planning Charles Cooper in the media.
TeraMobil is now allowed to set up a company in mobile telephony and internet services in Curaçao. This means that contracts may be entered into with customers, transmission towers may be set up and existing transmission towers may be used. The government hopes that the concession will promote competition in the local telecom market and lead to lower consumer prices.
According to Cooper, there is currently a proposal for a national decree to allow customers to switch while retaining their telephone numbers.
