New Online Vehicle Registration System – CRIB Number Now Mandatory

Local | By Correspondent April 10, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Starting in May 2025, the Curaçao Traffic and Transportation Services (UOVV) will launch a new online system for registering newly acquired vehicles.

With this digital innovation, owners of new vehicles will no longer need to visit the office in person. Instead, the entire registration process can be conveniently completed online through the UOVV website.

New Requirement: CRIB Number

To register a vehicle using the new system, the owner must have a CRIB number. This number is essential for proper identification and processing of the registration.

How to Obtain Your CRIB Number:

For all residents aged 18 or older, a CRIB number has likely already been created. Tax Office employees can look up the number in their system when someone comes to pay their vehicle tax.

If you are not a resident and do not yet have a CRIB number, you can apply for one at www.belastingdienst.cw. You will receive your CRIB number within a few days.

Authorities advise anyone planning to register a new vehicle to ensure they have their CRIB number ahead of time.

Benefits of the New System:

Fully online process

Shorter waiting times

Secure and user-friendly platform

Ability to track your registration transparently

What Counts as a “New Vehicle”?

Any vehicle being registered in Curaçao for the first time is considered a new vehicle, regardless of the country of origin.

UOVV continues to work toward a modern, accessible, and efficient public service. This step is part of the government's broader vision to digitize services and improve quality. Additional information and guidance will be provided in the coming days.
