WILLEMSTAD – A new mother-and-child healthcare clinic is set to be built in the Colon district of Curaçao. The maternity clinic is scheduled to begin construction in 2026 and is expected to be completed by 2028. The announcement was made yesterday by caretaker Minister of Health, Environment and Nature, Javier Silvania, during the Dutch Caribbean Public Health Experts Network conference, which coincided with World Health Day.
The clinic will be developed in collaboration with Fundashon Duna Lus, a local organization dedicated to maternity care. It is intended to serve pregnant women and newborns, and will be located near the Curaçao Medical Center. According to Minister Silvania, this proximity will ensure that patients in need of specialized medical attention can be referred quickly and efficiently. “This clinic will help improve health outcomes for both mothers and babies,” the minister stated.
An amount of 1.2 million guilders has been allocated for the construction. The investment is part of a broader area development initiative aimed at improving infrastructure and services in the Colon district.
