New Machine to Process Chicken Manure En Route to Curaçao, Says Egg Farm Moderno Director

WILLEMSTAD – A machine designed to process chicken manure is currently on its way to Curaçao and is expected to arrive in the second half of this year, according to José Dovale, director of Egg Farm Moderno. The equipment, which originates from Germany, will be assembled on the island with the help of specialized technicians from abroad.

The installation of the machine is intended to address ongoing complaints about odor and environmental concerns in Dam Pretu, where the farm has been legally depositing manure for several months. Dovale emphasized that the acquisition represents a significant investment by the company, aimed at offering a long-term solution to the controversy.

He also revealed that a building permit was only granted yesterday to begin constructing the facility where the machine will be housed—causing further delays. Dovale expressed frustration with the ongoing public criticism, stating that Egg Farm Moderno is simply following government orders by placing the manure in a location designated by the authorities.

According to Dovale, many of the accusations being directed at the company are unfounded, and he urged the public to recognize that the farm is actively working to improve the situation.

Egg Farm Moderno is the island’s largest egg producer and has been at the center of a heated debate over agricultural waste management in recent months. The new machine is expected to play a critical role in reducing the environmental impact of its operations.
