New license plates ready next week

Local | By Correspondent September 9, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The license plates for owners of new cars will be ready next week. This is reported by Minister of Finance Javier Silvania after complaints about the fact that the tax authorities are currently unable to issue number plates.

According to the Tax Department, the blank number plates come from abroad and are printed at the inspection room. Earlier this year, approval was given to order the license plates. However, the container with the plates has been delayed for a month.

1,000 plates will arrive by airmail on Monday. It has been agreed with the inspection hall that new cars will be inspected again from Friday 9 September. "They know which license plates are assigned, so the inspection cards can be issued and insurance can also be provided," according to the tax authorities.

The new license plates will be ready in the second half of next week.
