New launch date for Caribbean Guilder delayed to 2025

WILLEMSTAD - The eagerly awaited introduction of the Caribbean guilder has faced a setback, with the new launch date now pushed back to March 31, 2025. This decision comes following discussions between the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten and financial institutions.

The delay stems from banks encountering difficulties in preparing their systems in time for the initially planned launch date. Consequently, in collaboration with the CBCS, the decision was made to seek an extension. It is important to note that the new launch date, March 31, 2025, is still pending confirmation from the Ministry of Finance. As a result, the definitive date for the currency's introduction remains uncertain.
