New Fire Station Coming to Banda Riba After Government Approves Cg 5 Million Allocation

WILLEMSTAD - Emergency services in Banda Riba will soon receive a major boost. A new fire station is set to be built after the government approved a Cg 5 million budget transfer between the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) and the Ministry of Justice.

The funding shift is budget-neutral, meaning the overall government budget remains unchanged. However, it allows for targeted investment in what officials describe as a critical public safety project.

The new facility is expected to dramatically improve response times for the fire department in the eastern region of the island, where growing communities have placed increased pressure on emergency services.

Construction plans include modern equipment bays, improved logistics, and updated safety systems designed to enhance first-response capabilities.

The government notes that the project aligns with its broader push to strengthen national emergency infrastructure and improve access to essential services across all districts.
