New Federation Revives Olympic Shooting Sport on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – The Olympic Shooting Sport Federation Curaçao (OSFC) has officially launched, marking a new chapter for the island in the world of competitive shooting. Dedicated exclusively to the development and promotion of Olympic and ISSF disciplines—including air rifle, rapid fire and sport pistol, rifle shooting, and clay target shooting—OSFC aims to bring the sport back into the spotlight after years of inactivity.

With the goal of reestablishing Curaçao as an active player in Olympic shooting sports, the OSFC is setting its sights on regional and international recognition. The newly formed federation is focused on building a strong national presence, cultivating talent, and creating opportunities for Curaçaoan athletes to compete abroad.

Among its first major initiatives, OSFC will establish a national training program for both youth and adults. It also plans to host open house events where the public can safely and professionally engage with the sport. Additionally, the federation will reintroduce official ISSF competitions on the island, with valid scores contributing to local rankings. A national team will also be formed and coached to represent Curaçao in tournaments across the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe.

The OSFC is working closely with local clubs, including Curacao Precision, and is building ties with regional shooting federations to facilitate participation in prestigious events such as the CAC Games, Caribbean Cups, and the ODESUR Games.

In the near future, the OSFC will host its first open day at the Asiento shooting range, offering the public a firsthand look at the three Olympic shooting disciplines. Attendees can expect live demonstrations and receive detailed information about training opportunities.

“We want to show that shooting sports are about more than just firearms,” said an OSFC spokesperson. “It’s about discipline, focus, control, and above all, it is an Olympic sport.”

With its eyes on excellence and youth development, the OSFC is poised to breathe new life into a sport that combines precision and purpose, positioning Curaçao once again on the map of international Olympic shooting.
