WILLEMSTAD - Business owners have been granted another month of extension for submitting the wage statement to the tax authorities. This statement is normally due by April 1st, but the rush for crib (tax) numbers is so high that the tax authorities cannot handle the requests by that date, and even May 1st cannot be met.
The rush has occurred because, from this year onwards, business owners are required to report a crib number for each employee on the wage statement. This is the first time that this is required on a statement that contains information on all employees who receive wages.
For this reason, it was decided to extend the deadline for submitting the 2022 wage statement to Friday, April 28th. However, it has been determined that it is not possible to handle all requests by that date.
As a result, the deadline for submitting the wage statement has been extended to June 1st. The processing of the 2022 income tax returns will then commence on that date.
If an employer has not submitted a wage statement, the tax authorities will not be able to process the income tax return. Therefore, it is essential that employers submit the wage statements in a timely manner so that the first refunds for the year 2022 can be paid out in June.
Currently, the wage statement for less than 50% of the employees has been submitted by the employer.
