WILLEMSTAD – A ceremonial opening for the new Schietinrichting Defensie Daou will take place on April 15. This new 25-meter shooting range was established through a collaborative effort between the Curaçao government, Defense, and Shooting Range Daou.
The new facility is designed to reduce the strain on the environment surrounding the existing shooting range in Wacao, while also ensuring the readiness of both Caribbean and Dutch military personnel, as well as coast guard staff. The range is named after the late Michel Daou, a Curaçaoan Olympian and sports shooter, who passed away last year and was a member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Built in accordance with Dutch defense standards and certified by both Curaçao and Dutch authorities, the shooting range meets the highest safety standards. It is designed for small-caliber firearms such as the Glock.
The ceremonial opening will take place on Tuesday morning, April 15, marking a significant step in enhancing military training and safety on the island.
