WILLEMSTAD - The government wants to install a new central crisis center by 2023. This is apparent from the plans of the supplementary budget for 2022. The crisis center will become a location for offices and training and function as a so-called 'strong room' for the Ministry of Justice and the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
The new crisis center is one of the policy changes within the Ministry of General Affairs. 300,000 guilders has been earmarked for the new crisis center, which will be used as start-up costs for construction. The budget states that the investment is for the renovation and construction of a suitable location called the 'Central Operational Crisis Center' (COC).
The space will be used both as office space and as a strong room. This place can be found in, under or on a building and is used in case of emergency. In the event of an emergency, the room can be completely closed off. In addition, the space will be set up as a 'safe haven' for the government. In addition to the strong room function, the COC will also serve as a central coordination center for knowledge development, training and education.
