New commander for the Curaçao Fire Department

WILLEMSTAD - Within the framework of the "critical functions 2022" vacancies that the Ministry of Justice has, recently, Minister of Justice Shalten Hato proposed during a Council of Ministers meeting a new commander to lead and oversee the fire department. Mr. Jair Tromp has been appointed as an official in the position of commander for the Curaçao Fire Department after a successful application process, in which he excelled. Mr. Tromp previously served as the Commander General of the fire departments on the BES islands. 

Originally from his native island of Aruba, where he also worked, Mr. Tromp possesses extensive knowledge in the field of firefighting, and he will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the development of the Curaçao Fire Department. 

As the new commander, Mr. Tromp will be responsible for the implementation of the so-called "Fire Department Reinforcement Plan," a trajectory that will address the following areas of attention: 

Organization and function. 

Legal position arrangement. 

Professional training system. 

Laws and regulations. 

Internal and external communication plan. 

On his first day at the Curaçao Fire Department, Commander Tromp conducted a tour to become familiar with the fire department facilities and personnel, both office staff and firefighters. Additionally, Mr. Gerold Daantje, the sector director of the Ministry of Justice, officially presented, on behalf of Minister Shalten Hato, the office keys, the vehicle, uniform, and other essential items for the commander's role. 

To conclude the day, a photo was taken with the new management team of the Curaçao Fire Department. In the coming days, Commander Tromp will get to know the other firefighting staff, and during the week, he will visit the fire department facilities at Hato Airport and Isla Refinery.
