New Border Control Point Opens in St. Barbara to Strengthen Curaçao’s Security

WILLEMSTAD – A new border control facility has officially opened in St. Barbara, designed to serve as a “one-window” location for inspection and security services. The announcement was made by Minister of Justice Shalten Hato (MFK), who emphasized the site’s role in enhancing border protection and law enforcement coordination.

The new facility is part of the broader security strategy of the Pisas III Cabinet, which aims to reinforce Curaçao’s ability to combat cross-border crime.

The control point brings together key agencies including Customs, Police, the Coast Guard, and other inspection services under one roof, improving operational efficiency and inter-agency collaboration.

According to the government, the opening represents a major step forward in strengthening national security and safeguarding the island against illicit activities that threaten public order and economic stability.
