WILLEMSTAD – Netto Bar, the oldest bar in Curaçao, is celebrating its 70th anniversary this week with a vibrant lineup of music and cultural events. The festivities include performances by DJ Leannon on Wednesday and Grupo Komper on Friday, culminating with a grand finale by Kurashi Soundsystem on Saturday, according to owners Danny and Ray Maarten.

Founded in 1954 by Ernesto "Netto" Koster, Netto Bar has been a cornerstone of Curaçaoan culture for decades. Now run by Koster's grandsons, Danny and Ray Maarten, the bar continues to thrive as a beloved gathering spot for both locals and tourists. “The bar has established itself over the years as a meeting place for people from all walks of life, where they can immerse themselves in Curaçao’s culture, traditions, and, of course, the legendary Ròm Bèrde,” said the owners.
In addition to its iconic Ròm Bèrde (Green Rum), the "Netto Colada" has become a customer favorite. “The atmosphere here is one-of-a-kind, blending local charm with an international vibe. This makes the bar a hotspot for anyone looking to enjoy a great night out, with fantastic music, warm company, and our famous drinks,” added Danny and Ray.
Situated on Breedestraat in Otrobanda, Netto Bar has played a significant role in Curaçao’s carnival celebrations for decades. Its prime location offers visitors a perfect vantage point to enjoy the vibrant parades that pass through the city.
With its mix of rich history, cultural significance, and lively celebrations, Netto Bar’s 70th-anniversary festivities promise to honor the legacy of this iconic institution while embracing its bright future.
