‘Netherlands will have to pay for climate change on the Caribbean Islands’

Local | By Correspondent November 11, 2022

THE HAGUE - The Netherlands will have to foot the bill for the consequences of climate change on the Caribbean islands. That is what professor Rob van Gestel says according to Dutch radio station Radio 1.

Greenpeace said this week in the Dutch House of Representatives that they are preparing a lawsuit to force the Dutch State to do something about climate change on Bonaire. The consequences of climate change are also visible on the other islands, including Curaçao. Van Gestel, a professor at Tilburg University, spoke earlier this week during a round table conference of the Kingdom Relations Committee of the House of Representatives about the consequences of the climate in the Caribbean region of the Kingdom.
