| By Correspondent March 3, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Nearly 300 kilograms of waste were collected along the Caracasbaaiweg on Sunday during a cleanup campaign organized by the Kunuku Man and a group of volunteers.

The action resulted in the removal of large amounts of litter, including hundreds of bottles and cans discarded along the roadside. According to the organization, volunteers gathered 740 empty beer bottles, 450 aluminum cans, and 700 plastic bottles. In addition, 131 kilograms of miscellaneous waste were collected, bringing the total to 299 kilograms.

The cleanup was carried out with the help of enthusiastic volunteers who dedicated their time to improving the area. The Kunuku Man described the amount of waste found as “a disgrace” and said it reflects poorly on Curaçao.

The message from the organizers was clear: “Simply clean up your trash as you should.”

Earlier, a similar cleanup initiative was conducted in collaboration with students from Kolegio Santa Clara. The Kunuku Man continues to raise awareness about the growing litter problem on the island and calls on residents to take greater responsibility for keeping Curaçao clean.
