WILLEMSTAD - According to figures from the Tax Collector, nearly 23,500 drivers in Curaçao have either not paid their vehicle tax for 2023 or have only made partial payments.

Of the approximately 85,000 taxable vehicles in Curaçao, only 53,006 have paid their taxes for the past year in full. Additionally, 22,785 drivers have paid for only the first half of the year, with 8,516 of them also having paid for the second half.

There are still 14,269 drivers who need to pay their tax for the second half of the year. Currently, almost 23,500 drivers have either not paid their tax or have only made partial payments.

In 2024, the number of drivers who have paid their full tax is expected to be higher compared to 2023. This year, more individuals have settled their entire tax bill compared to last year, when 41,106 drivers paid for the whole year.

Drivers who do not pay their taxes on time will face penalties and interest on the amount owed.

The deadline for payment in 2024 has not yet been announced.
