| By Correspondent March 6, 2026

THE HAGUE – Museums on the islands can apply for a new round of grants aimed at strengthening the scientific role of museum institutions.

The funding is part of the Museum Grants program organized by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The program supports short-term research projects related to museum collections and museum practices.

Museum professionals can apply for financial support to carry out research, but projects must be conducted in collaboration with a researcher affiliated with a recognized research institution.

A total of €700,000 has been made available for the program. Individual projects can request funding ranging from €10,000 to €50,000.

To provide more information about the grant opportunity, NWO will host an online information session on March 10.

Applications for the funding program must be submitted by May 12 at 2:00 p.m. Dutch time. The initiative aims to encourage museums to expand their research activities and further strengthen their role as centers of knowledge and cultural heritage.
