WILLEMSTAD - Following the fatal shooting incident on Thursday evening in Pampanostraat, Marie Pampoen, 23-year-old Sh.M.E.G., originally from the Netherlands, surrendered himself to the Curaçao police. The incident, which occurred around 7:00 PM amidst an escalating altercation, marks the second homicide case on the island within a short span.
The suspect voluntarily presented himself at the police station on Friday evening around 9:30 PM, accompanied by legal counsel. Shortly thereafter, his arrest was executed, and he was promptly brought before a magistrate for initial proceedings. Subsequently, he was remanded into custody pending further investigative procedures.
The victim of the shooting has been identified as 36-year-old coconut vendor Jardino Jesus Haseth. The altercation ensued following a verbal dispute, leading to a physical altercation, culminating in fatal gunshot wounds. Despite swift medical response from ambulance personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as confirmed by the attending police physician.
The Willemstad police had previously initiated an extensive inquiry into this tragic incident, diligently collecting evidence and testimonies to apprehend the perpetrator.
