Multidisciplinary Inspections Continue Across Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent April 11, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Under the coordination of the Curaçao Anti-Undermining Action Center (ACOC), the Curaçao Police Force and various partner agencies conducted a new round of multidisciplinary inspections on April 9 at several garages and scrapyards across the island.

The inspections involved a range of institutions, including the Curaçao Police Force, the Tax Inspectorate, the Ministry of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) Enforcement Division, Aqualectra, the Labor Inspectorate (Ministry of SOAW), the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP) Enforcement Division, and PATH Curaçao.

Authorities uncovered multiple violations, such as failure to register with the Chamber of Commerce, non-payment of taxes, outstanding debts, illegal electricity connections, absence of required operating permits, and the employment of undocumented workers.

PATH Curaçao interviewed the undocumented individuals to assess any signs of labor exploitation. Several warnings were issued during the inspections.

Both ACOC and the Curaçao Police emphasized the importance of these joint inspections and confirmed that they will continue in the future. The ACOC operates under the Ministry of Justice and is committed to a coordinated and administrative approach to combating subversive crime, with a focus on collaboration among both governmental and non-governmental partners.
