Local | By Press release October 25, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Under the banner of the Curaçao Action Center for Organized Crime (ACOC) and in close collaboration with the Curaçao Police Force’s vehicle crime division, two multidisciplinary inspections were carried out at a garage and an auto salvage yard. These inspections mark an important step in the fight against vehicle crime and other forms of illicit and undermining activities within the auto industry.

The inspections, conducted on the morning of Thursday, October 24, involved a team of various agencies, including representatives from the GMN Inspection, MEO Inspection, SVB, SBAB, Aqualectra, and the Ministry of SOAW (Labor and Safety Inspection Departments) as well as Spatial Planning and Zoning (ROP). This collaboration highlights the joint efforts and dedication of various organizations to put an end to illegal practices.

During the inspections, a wide range of issues were examined, including the legality of vehicles and auto parts, permits, and compliance with safety standards for employees. The cooperation between the different agencies ensured that a broad range of expertise and resources were utilized to conduct the inspections effectively.

The ACOC and the Curaçao Police Force emphasize the importance of these comprehensive inspections and will continue to conduct them in the future. The Curaçao Action Center for Organized Crime, which operates under the Ministry of Justice, is committed to an integrated and administrative approach to organized crime, with a focus on collaboration, effectiveness, and involvement.
