MP Nita, Congratulates Minister Silvania for the Approval of the LOK Law by the Majority in Parliament

Local | By Correspondent December 18, 2024

WILLEMSTAD – During the public session of the Curaçao Parliament on December 17, the new LOK (Landsverordening op de Kansspelen) law was discussed and approved. This law aims to regulate and facilitate the opportunity for participants wishing to legally engage in online gaming activities.

The law not only regulates and promotes economic growth, but it is also designed to protect our citizens and preserve the integrity of our community. It is important to recognize this positive progress, achieved by the Government, in ensuring a safe, transparent, and responsible environment. The commitment to oversight reflects our dedication to creating an industry that prioritizes the well-being of the people of Curaçao.

We must remain vigilant to maintain our competitive advantage in the global market, ensuring that the industry remains competitive and continues to adhere to international anti-money laundering standards.

Lastly, we cannot forget the potential of the income generated, which can fund investments in social, sports, and informational programs benefiting our people.

As a parliamentary member who supported the LOK law, which is positive and generates revenue for the government’s coffers, I cannot imagine any parliamentarian opposing this noble law.

I congratulate all the parliamentary factions who gave their approval for this law, Minister Silvania, the Pisas 2 cabinet for introducing the law, and everyone who contributed to the successful passage of the LOK gaming law, which aims to foster economic development with many benefits for both Curaçao and the government’s coffers.
