Movementu Kousa Promé expresses concern over increased military activity in Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent November 15, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The political movement Movementu Kousa Promé has raised concerns about the rising military activities in Curaçao, as the Netherlands and its NATO allies expand their military presence on the island.

Kousa Promé, which advocates for maintaining Curaçao's status as a peaceful and neutral territory, has criticized the Dutch plans to relocate military bases. This includes the deployment of MQ-9 Reaper drones at the Wakawa base and ongoing military operations in the Koral Tabak area.

The movement is urging the Curaçao government to take measures to protect the island from becoming a conflict zone or a hub for the arms industry. "Curaçao, as a country of peace, should not be involved in wars nor serve as a military base for any nation," stated Kousa Promé.

Movementu Kousa Promé is calling on the government to uphold Curaçao's status as a 'peaceful nation,' in line with the Carta Magna of the Caribbean, which promotes harmony and peace among the region's countries.
