WILLEMSTAD - Humphrey Davelaar's political party Movementu KAS has decided not to go to court anymore. Earlier, the party had announced that it wanted to challenge the outcome of the support elections or the primaries.
The party was 43 votes short to participate in the elections on March 19. With more than 600 votes being declared invalid, the party wanted the judge to rule on the situation. But after a legal analysis, the party has decided not to proceed with the lawsuit.
The party does have a series of recommendations on the way in which the elections in Curaçao should be organized. One of the points is that members of the Supreme Electoral Council may only serve for a maximum of five years.
This point is remarkable because almost all members of the current Council have been involved in the elections for many years. Should KAS's suggestion be accepted, almost an entirely new board would have to be appointed.
