WILLEMSTAD - Crime is rising. The latest figures show strong growth in home burglaries and assaults. According to the police, this is mainly due to the social-economic situation of the country and the crisis in Venezuela.

This year there have been 169 break-ins against 109 in the whole of 2018. The number of assaults is 315 until the month of September, while 238 assaults were recorded throughout 2018.
