Montaña Neighborhood Cleans Overgrown Area to Combat African Snail and Bee Infestation

WILLEMSTAD Recently, a densely overgrown area in the Montaña neighborhood was cleared to address the nuisance caused by the giant African snail and bees. The cleaning initiative was launched after residents raised complaints with the Technical Hygiene Department (THZ). This was reported by the government in a press release.

Under the instructions of Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas (MFK), who also oversees environmental matters, the work was carried out just a few days after the residents’ complaint. “Previous attempts by residents to address the infestation on their own had little effect,” stated the government.

According to the government, the drainage channel was overgrown with Bellisima plants, which provided a hiding place for the snails and attracted bees to the area. This clean-up effort aims to mitigate the ongoing pest problem and improve the living conditions for local residents.
