In the final round, Kjær triumphed over Miss Nigeria, who placed second. The top 5 was rounded out by beauty queens from the host country, Mexico, Thailand, and Venezuela, a nation traditionally strong in the competition. Miss Netherlands, Amber Rustenberg, also failed to secure a spot in the top 30.
