Local | By Correspondent June 10, 2024

WILLEMSTAD, ORANJESTAD - The Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW) of Curaçao made a one-day visit to Aruba. The purpose of this visit was to exchange knowledge and explore each other's social policies and developments.

The visit began with a meeting where mutual challenges in the areas of the social system, welfare, and employment were discussed.

Following the meeting, the delegation visited Fundashon Pa Nos Comunidad, the official food bank of Aruba, which supports 150-200 families monthly.

Next, the team visited CEDE Aruba, the national center for social development. CEDE provides funding for community projects in the social domain, emphasizing neighborhood and community-based projects. CEDE acts as an executing party and collaborates with the Aruban government and SFC.

A crucial part of the visit, according to the ministry, was the visit to SVB Aruba, given the ongoing issues in Curaçao regarding AOV (general old-age insurance) problems and the revision of the social system.

The last organization visited was Famia Planea. This organization provides support and education in sexual health and family planning. Famia Planea efficiently uses digitalization to reach its target audiences.
