WILLEMSTAD - The ministry of health, environment, and nature (gmn) plans to deploy two dental buses for school visits. One of these is a converted bus from autobus Bedrijf Curaçao (ABC), and the other is a new bus. Two million guilders have been reserved for their acquisition. The organization "Un Smail pa Kòrsou" reported having contact with various institutions in the Netherlands and negotiating to obtain dental instruments for the ABC bus at a low cost.
The foundation recently advised the Parliament that there needs to be a more targeted government policy for dental and oral care for children. This recommendation is based on data collected during inspections of children's teeth and oral hygiene. A total of 1,067 children were examined, with cavities found in 410 children and moderate to poor oral hygiene observed in 446 youths.
The GMN Ministry aims to deploy the dental buses by the end of this year.
