WILLEMSTAD - Since January, the Ministry of Finance has refunded nearly eleven million guilders to over 8,400 taxpayers. This outcome is a result of accelerating tax filings through an automated system, as reported by the ministry.
This system, also used by the Caribbean Netherlands Tax Office, ensures that people receive their refunds faster and allows the government to collect taxes more quickly.
The automated preliminary assessments can be adjusted later by the tax inspector if necessary. The new system can deliver final assessments within nine months.
Meanwhile, the refunds have continued. From January to July 24, over 10.5 million guilders in refunds have been paid out, based on 8,400 assessments, distributed across income tax, AOVZ, AVBZ, and BVZZ.
More refunds are scheduled for July and August, amounting to an additional eleven million.
However, there are still 3,603 assessments worth nearly 5.6 million guilders that have not been paid out because the taxpayers have not provided their bank details to the Tax Office. As a result, these refunds cannot be processed.
