WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Finance has reached an agreement with the mental health institution Capriles Clinic, the ministry announced. The operational costs will be covered by the agreement.
Further legal proceedings will be avoided. Under the conditions of the agreement, Capriles will receive an additional amount of 3.4 million guilders annually to cover operational costs.
In 2021, the Capriles Clinic initiated legal action against the government. The rates had long been low, and the healthcare budget received from the Social Insurance Bank was insufficient, resulting in the healthcare institution accumulating debts. This led to the Receiver seizing assets, causing delays in the payment of staff salaries. Subsequently, the healthcare institution sought justice through legal action.
The clinic has been facing financial difficulties for some time, resulting in the inability to provide the required optimal care.
