WILLEMSTAD - Minister Sithree van Heydoorn has confirmed that the suspension of sports and physical education programs in schools has been addressed. Speaking on a radio program on August 26, the Minister asked for time to resolve the matter.
On August 29, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports (ESKD) held a meeting with the director and management team of the Curaçao Sports Development Foundation (FDDK) to discuss the challenges surrounding the implementation of sports and physical education during school hours.
Key agreements were reached during the meeting to ensure the programs continue as planned.
The Ministry of ESKD and FDDK agreed to resume sports and physical education activities by September 23 at the latest.
Minister Sithree van Heydoorn reassured the public that the issue has been resolved, stating that the Curaçao government, through its Culture and Sports Sector and FDDK, is committed to maintaining this essential program for the well-being of the island's children.
