Minister Silvania takes on additional role of SOAW

Local | By Correspondent August 23, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has announced temporary changes to the staffing of ministries left without ministers following the PNP's departure from the coalition. This means additional responsibilities for Javier Silvania, who is already in charge of the Ministries of Finance, Health, Environment, and Nature. As of today, he will also be responsible for Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW) until a new minister is appointed from the KEM party.

Charles Cooper, currently the Minister of Traffic, Transport, and Urban Planning, will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Economic Development until Zita Jesus-Leito's representative is appointed to the role.

For the Ministry of Governance, Planning, and Public Service, Shalten Hato, the current Minister of Justice, will take responsibility for the time being. KEM and Jesus-Leito have agreed to support the cabinet after PNP’s departure in exchange for nominating a minister.
