WILLEMSTAD - Justice Minister Shalten Hato officially laid the first stone for the construction of a modern training center for the Curaçao Fire Department. The ceremony marked the unveiling of the design and the commencement of the project. Funded by the crime fund, the initiative aims to strengthen the island’s safety capacity.

The Curaçao Fire Department has long been in need of a dedicated training facility. Until now, training sessions and drills were conducted at shared locations on the island or even on other islands, which was far from ideal.
The new training center will offer comprehensive facilities where firefighters can practice both day and night. They will have the opportunity to learn various techniques to respond effectively to emergencies, ranging from firefighting to handling critical situations. The center is expected to contribute significantly to the professional development of the firefighters, better preparing them to protect the community.
The new training center is slated to be operational by March 2025, providing the fire department with a permanent location to train, prepare, and stay in top physical condition to face any challenge.
