WILLEMSTAD - Minister Pisas made a tour yesterday, Tuesday, to Bandabou at various locations that suffered damage during last Friday's heavy rainfall. First, Minister Pisas visited Hòfi Mango to personally take note of the damage. Then Minister made several visits, including to family homes and an animal shelter. At some locations, assistance was provided to individuals who had significant water damage.

At Hòfi Mango, Minister Pisas toured the area to personally take note of the damage. Later, he went to a family home in Fontein where, together with Public Works collaborators, they used a drone to assess what could be done in the landscape to prevent this house from experiencing water inconvenience in the future. Afterwards, he visited Rescue Paws, which is a dog shelter in the Fontein area, where Minister Pisas toured the facility and was informed of the damage they suffered from water and the work they are doing to alleviate the issue of abandoned dogs on the streets.

Then, he visited an address in Pannekoek where strong water currents had created a fairly large hole in front of a citizen's door. After the rainfall, the citizen walked outside and fell into the hole, which was deep and filled with water. Public Works was at the site, and with the help of a loader and a truck, they alleviated the citizen's problem. Then, they proceeded to Santa Cruz Beach, where the water loosened a large amount of soil from the hillside and broke a wall, which consequently fell onto the citizen's car. Using a loader, they removed the soil and the parts of the wall to extract the car. In the coming days, road cleaning will continue, and assistance will be provided to citizens who suffered water damage.
