WILLEMSTAD - Last Sunday, there was an activity in Soto where, during a pleasant encounter, Minister Pisas officially delivered 10 fishing boats and 5 boat engines to fishermen whose boats were destroyed or lost engines during the recent bad weather. In February, there was bad weather caused by a so-called "southerly wind" that caught several fishermen off guard. As a result, several boats were destroyed as fishermen did not have the chance to put their boats on land.
During his speech, Minister Pisas showed that in 2011 there was also a similar project where 5 boats and 5 boat engines were delivered to fishermen. Regarding the fishermen who have now received boats or boat engines, it must be said that these are fishermen from all parts of Curaçao. Minister Pisas also announced that soon, in the next phase, delivery of 10 more boats and engines will be made to fishermen. This is to ensure that the people of Curaçao have sufficient fish, as this is of utmost importance for our food security. After the pastor blessed the fishermen and the boats, a pleasant celebration continued with those present.
